Warriors of the Gridiron

The Polynesian football hall of fame

Food hero image Food hero scuff

Some Polynesians do amazing things on surfboards. And some do amazing things on scoreboards. Pacific Islanders have reached the very highest levels of success playing football at the high school, collegiate and professional level. Even though Pacific Islanders make up less than one percent of the U.S. population, more than 200 Polynesians have played in the NFL.

This legacy is celebrated in La’ie at the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame. Located inside the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Hall takes you through the history of islanders on the gridiron, including a name or two from La’ie. Not surprising, since La’ie has always been a place of stories. Just so happens, some of them can be found on the sports page.
